The benefits of oils for the skin

In extreme conditions, such as cold and dry weather, natural oils are a viable alternative to nourishing creams because they heal the skin faster. The reason? They absorb quickly, performing a dual action: on the one hand they provide nutrients that make the skin more beautiful, and on the other they create a light film on the skin, preventing excessive water loss from the deep layers to the outside.

If you think that a facial oil can make your skin oily, you'll have to think again: the lipids contained in vegetable oils are very closely related to the sebum of our epidermis, thus being able to blend perfectly with it. In addition, the oil is very pleasant to spread. It immediately conveys a feeling of comfort and leaves the skin soft and velvety. In addition, it gives radiance, which is ideal if your complexion is dull or you look tired.

Another common fear is that the oil will dry out the skin, especially of the body. To remedy this, always apply it to slightly moistened skin, as if just out of the shower. This way, the water molecules will act as "carriers" to better convey the oil, improving its absorption by the skin.

Why are oils good for facial and body skin?

Natural oils used in cosmetics are rich in essential fatty acids. In this way they rebuild the hydrolipid mantle, that sort of natural film that covers the skin, which is precisely composed of 95 percent fat. In winter, our skin's barrier is put to the test by cold weather and particularly insidious atmospheric agents: low temperatures, smog, dry or too humid weather, and even stress. In summary, oils intensely nourish and maintain stable skin moisture levels.

Some oils, then, such as argan oil, are rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which strengthen the skin barrier and protect it from external aggression. The result? A more elastic skin that does not dehydrate and remains glowing at all times.

How to apply oil to face and body

Like a true elixir, the oil must be sipped. And so it lasts a long time. You only need 4 or 5 drops, applying it to the places where your skin is driest, "pulling" it to other areas. Massage it into the neck as well, with movements from the bottom up.

How to incorporate oil into yourbeauty routine? You can use it instead of serum, as the first step of care, after your usual facial cleansing and before your treatment cream. Or, if your skin is not particularly dry, it's also fine on its own, especially as an overnight treatment.

For a greater rejuvenating effect, you can apply the oil by scaling a few drops of product between the palms of your hands. This way you will "activate" the texture before applying it to your face. Always make movements from the inside out; finally, let your cupped hands rest on your face for a few seconds.

How to choose face or body oil

Natural oils are really a go-to. As we've seen, they can be used on their own, under cream if you need extra nourishing care, or even mixed with moisturizer, especially when you feel your skin pulling more than usual. They are also ideal for facilitating a quick self-massage to the face. On the body, on the other hand, oils are perfect for speeding up after-shower care while the skin is still damp.
