A company that makes sustainability the pivot of its production cycle often extends its beliefs into the social sphere as well. Being sustainable means, yes, making products while respecting the environment, but also making sure that the living conditions of the populations where the raw materials come from, are good. This is the case with Fruttonero, which pays great attention to the well-being and economic development of the communities in which it operates, Africa.
The Senigallia-based cosmetics company goes further, as it concretely supports the Maria Grazia Balducci Rossi Foundation, which has been working in the Ivory Coast since 2008, taking care of the health of the local population, as well as education, care of the elderly and training for the world of work.
The commitment of the Maria Grazia Bucci Foundation
One of the projects supported by Fruttonero and cared for by the Balducci Rossi Foundation is "Safe Motherhood," implemented in the Yakassé-Feyassé Ivorese village. It is a real health center that solves all problems related to pregnancy, throughout the gestational process. Specialist examinations, ultrasound scans, vaccinations, prophylaxis to sexually transmitted diseases, assistance in childbirth: these are just some of the services offered by the Balducci Rossi Foundation's care center. In more than 10 years of activity, the precious health center with a soul from the Marche region has contributed to a significant improvement in the conditions of mothers (we speak of 70 births per month), so much so that it has become a point of reference for neighboring villages. In fact, from being a specialized hub in the "mother&child" world, the Fruttonero-supported health center has turned into an all-around outpatient clinic: sick people in need of treatment have at their disposal an analysis laboratory, medicines, and rooms. There is no shortage of home care services and education on vaccination and proper nutrition. One example? Cooking classes that literally teach how to prepare healthy foods that ward off nutritional deficiencies, which are very common in Africa.
Fruttonero's sustainability: a broader corporate value
Indeed, the intent of the Balducci Rossi Foundation is to empower people, rather than to offer help only in a welfare sense, which is basically a passive form of help. If people are enabled to be healthy not only through assistance but also through learning health rules, they are much more likely to evolve into autonomy. And that is precisely one of the cornerstones of the concept of sustainability on which ethical companies like Fruttonero are founded: making sure that populations enjoy such well-being that they can grow and know how to build their own resources.
